The Last Lecture Book vs Speach

book vs speech
2 favorite chapters 15 soda with the car &20 "in 50 years it never came up"
witch did you like more

Randy's book and speech were very similar and had little differences The speech went in depth with details on his life growing up but didn't take much about his kids and wife, Jai. in the speech Randy showed the audience a creepy video that The class mates put together. The video was never mentioned in the book. The video was more in Depth with Randy's childhood dreams and what he did to try to accomplished them. During the speech Randy did a really sweet birthday surprise for jai, also being a apology for not being there at times. The one thing that didn't pop up in the speech was the demonstration on how people are more important then things. Involving the car and the soda. The book included more life lessons for the kids. Overall, I think the Video did a lot more explaining.

My two favorite chapters In the book were 15 and 20. Chapter 15 was about spilling the soda in the back of the convertible. Randy did this to show that people are more important the things. this is important because people are obviously obsessed with technology today. My other favorite chapter, like I said was chapter 20. this chapter was about how in 50 years of marriage, some of the big things never come up. this relates to real life when some of your best friends have some of the most biggest secrets and you never knew even though they were your best friend for a long time.

I personally liked the speech more then the book. The speech had a visual and went more in depth with how every childhood dream was made possible or wasn't. I liked the book because it made me think about real life and how life is so short and we don't have a right to complain because some people always have it worse then us. The speech was really emotional because it showed how much he really cared about his family and kids and tried to stay positive.

"My life is my message" -Gandh

The quote of the week "My life is my message" by Gandhi makes me feel odd. i don't really know how to approach it. To me it means that the choices you make in life send different messages toward you. If you have a bad reputation at school, your message sent on from teachers or students might be not to hang around this kid because he/she have bad influences on you.  lets say you have a good reputation at school, you're teachers will pass on the message that you re a good student and are trusted. In the book "Night" the quote "my life is my message" plays the role of describing a Jew. if you're a young child or a woman during the time of the Holocaust, your message will certainly be death. If your life is a older man during the Holocaust, you're message consists of a long painful journey with no reason. For some, their message also consists of death. Other quotes in the book that i brought to heart were the following:   On page xvii the quote  "its not always the events that have touched us personally that affect us the most" the quote on page 21 the quote "There was no longer any distinction between the rich and the poor, notables and the others, we were all people condemned to the same fate-still unknown. and the quote on pg 22 "they made us climb on to the cattle cars, 80 people in each one. the Hungarian police handed us some bread and some pails of water" and finally the quote on page xiii "infants were used as targets for machine guns" these are all the quotes that spoke out to me.
